David Stafford was born and raised in Pensacola, FL. He has over 30 years of experience in government management and public leadership. David served five terms as Escambia County Supervisor of Elections from 2005 to 2024. As a constitutional officer, he was responsible for voter registration, election administration, and candidate qualifying.

In that capacity, he managed a multimillion-dollar budget and oversaw staff recruitment and training, including more than six hundred election workers. He led the adoption of new voting systems, innovative technology, and cybersecurity protocols, while also providing national leadership on election administration through service on multiple advisory boards and committees.

After his position as Supervisor of Elections, David was appointed Election Security Advisor for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. Throughout his career, David has served on multiple national advisory boards and held office as President of the Florida Supervisor of Elections Association. In 2022, he was inducted into the National Association of Election Officials Hall of Fame.
David is currently the Administrator for the City of Pensacola, where he leads the city’s administrative operations to advance Pensacola’s strategic priorities. ***Watch Video: The Thornton Review Show David Stafford
