COL. Eric W. Shorter want to be Pensacola mayor. Born and raised in Pensacola, a true son of Pensacola, FL. He was born on November 19, 1970, at West Florida Hospital and attended Washington High School and Pine Forrest. COL. Shorter started his Secondary Education at Pensacola Junior College now Pensacola State. He attended South Dakota School of Mines & Technology in Rapid, SD where he earned his BS Degree and Denver University for his Graduate Studies earning an MS Degree.
The Pillar of COL. Shorter Mayoral Candidacy will be Servant Leadership! His Leadership Style has been described as Participatory Management & Management by Observation. He is certainly not the smartest guy in the room, but he is certain collectively we have the answers. COL. Shorter believe his Vision, Experience and Drive can help continue to move Pensacola forward.
He believes to know where you are going, you must know where you have been. COL. Shorter states he has watched Pensacola’s trajectory. He has been watching Pensacola’s progress starting in 2004. Remember, growth never asks for small adjustments.
COL. Shorter states some of Pensacola’s most notable growth over the years includes Navy Federals Call Center, Downtown’s Gentrification & the rebranding of Pensacola. Exciting things are happening. He wants to ensure all benefit from this growth.
COL. Shorter is the product of a Family that has Served Pensacola for multiple generations. He can truthfully say Service is in his Blood. COL. Shorter Grandfather Judge Martin was Pensacola’s first Community Action Leader. His other Grandfather was a local Businessman in the Belmont DeVillers Area (Abe’s 506 Club). His Aunt Dolores (Dee) Pierce Curry served on the Pensacola Housing Authority. His family members have been Police Men, Teachers, and Nurses in the Community.
COL. Shorter served 30yrs in the US Armed Services and his tenure ended at the Rank of Colonel. He understands the intricacies involved in running Large Scale Organizations with populations of 35,000 + people. COL. Shorter served as the Assistant Chief of Staff, G-1 (Adjutant General). His Civilian Sector experience was garnered at Chevron (Oak Point), Lucent Technologies & Avaya.
He believes to know what the people want and need, you must talk to the people. COL. Shorter is of the people by the people and for the people. (A. Lincoln)
